Core Commitments
This series was preached as part of a membership class. It explores some of the main commitments that are expressed in our membership vows.
Corporate Worship
Those God saves he calls to gather together to worship him. Therefore Christians are to be committed to corporate worship. This sermon unpacks the teaching of Psalm 95 where we learn what worship is, why we should worship, and how we should go about it.
Authority of Scripture
The authority of the Scripture means that every part of the bible is God speaking, and therefore we are not free to pick and choose which parts we accept as authoritative. Every part is to be read, accepted, cherished, trusted and obeyed.
Justification
Justification concerns how sinful people who deserve eternal punishment can get a right standing with God our Judge. And the most incredible news is, it’s not something that we achieve through our efforts, but something that God gives freely to us, at great cost to himself.
Trinity
Key to knowing and relating to God is recognising that he is triune; three in one, one God who is three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Though difficult to grasp, this sermon sets out the contours of the doctrine of the Trinity, and explores why it is so important for knowing and relating to God.
